Water brought to elderly in Ferriday

Published 12:00am Saturday, August 27, 2011

FERRIDAY — In the midst of more water problems, the Town of Ferriday is offering help to elderly and disabled residents unable to go out and get their water.

Mayor Glen McGlothin said many residents in town are unable to get water for themselves at one of the 14 military water tanks throughout the city, and Ferriday officials are looking to help.

The mayor said anyone who can’t physically go out and get their own drinking water from the tanks can contact City Hall at 318-757-3411.

“If you just call up there we will work out a plan to where we can get you some fresh water,” he said.

McGlothin said the service is only for residents who truly need the help, and that it will be offered until the town receives approval that the boil order advisory is lifted.

This is ridiculous. The problem with the Ferriday water and water department has been going on for years and the people deserve better; there is no excuse for why the problems have not been addressed and fixed. I guarantee the Ferriday water department is still sending out bills for water and sewage service; yet you can’t drink the water even when you have it coming to you out of the faucets. I rememeber when they tore up the roads in the neighborhoods because they were laying the water and sewage lines and told the residents they had to have water and sewage provided to them; no more using well water. Nothing has worked correctly since. Maybe there needs to be some new leaders elected that can get these water problems fixed.
