Arkansas-Pine Bluff edges Alcorn 27-20

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Dennis Jenkins made a 5-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter to lift Arkansas-Pine Bluff to a 27-20 victory over Alcorn State on Saturday night.

The Golden Lions (1-1, 1-0 Southwestern) were down 20-10 at halftime but kept the Braves (0-2, 0-2) scoreless in the second half.

Pine Bluff’s Adrian Moore led the game in rushing with 130 yards, including a 57-yard run in the fourth quarter that put his team in place for the winning touchdown three plays later.

The Braves went ahead in the first half as Brandon Bridge threw to Simon Collier for two touchdowns and Arturo Tamayo kicked a pair of field goals.

Chris Ewald helped Pine Bluff with a pair of field goals. Stephen Jones added an 11-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and Rontrell Bailey caught a 7-yard pass from Benjamin Anderson in the third.
