NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police Department has charged the third and final suspect in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl on the night of Jan. 22.

Lawrence D. Green, 20, 1116 Martin Luther King Jr. St., was charged Thursday with statutory rape.

Police also charged Mario K. Byrd, 24, 1-B Ingram Circle, and Charles T. Buchannan III, 20, 203 N. Concord Ave. with statutory rape on Jan. 25 and Jan. 29, respectively.

According to a Natchez police report, the three men reportedly offered the victim a ride while she was walking home from a friend’s house on Gayosa Avenue. Instead, the victim reportedly walked with men to an abandoned house on Martin Luther King Jr. Street.

According to the report, the victim reported the suspects unsuccessfully attempted to break into the house.

The report states the suspects led the victim to a car porch, where one of the suspects reportedly shoved her to the ground. The victim reported that the suspects laughed as each of them allegedly sexually assaulted her.

According to the report, the victim said she saw a witness walk by after the assault flashing a message on a cell phone for the victim to come with the witness. The victim reported that one of the suspects told the witness to mind their own business, and the witness reportedly left.

The suspects are being held at the Natchez jail with no bond. Natchez Interim Police Chief Danny White said he was glad the suspects were in custody.

“I’m just glad we were able to catch all three of (the suspects”,” White said.

1 more arrest to be made – the witness with cell phone that did not call police.  Next step, additional charges.

WHAT??? Are you kidding me? Where is this reported “WITNESS”??? Why isn’t this “WITNESS” not being charged too?

Send their a**** to prison so they can get just what’s coming to them. Let them see what it is like to be raped and beaten.

There’s always two sides to a story. And in this case there are five sides to a story. Why was she walking the streets after eight at night by herself at 15years old, anyway. Where were her parents. And why she didn’t scream for help, when the witness with the cell phone passed by? Look at the person in hand before judging all. Because it doesn’t sounds much like a rape to me, mabe a mistake. But anyway, who I’m I to say. Do you get it. Our children of today is doing anything and everything, & the parents are looking for someone to blame. So you may want to start with yourself.

I’m trying to figure out the “flashing a message on a cell phone for the victim to come with the witness” part of this.
You have to be pretty close to see the screen.

If there was a text message sent to the girl’s phone…how hard would it be to trace the text back to a phone and ask “WHY” nothing was done?

This story is just a small glimpse into the every day life of the hood…gang up on someone, do what you want and if anybody happens by…”mind your own buisiness”….then the “community” goes into “Code of Silence” mode.

    Pitiful…truly pitiful…where is your shame?

WOW! I was in the dark about the “flashing mssg”. A text never occured to me. She was getting texts during this “statutory rape”?
I thought she was severly beaten, w/broke bones.

What other message can you flash with a cell phone other than a text? Unless there is some heretofor unknown ghetto morse code.
