Wilkinson inmate flees custody at dad’s funeral

Published 12:39am Saturday, February 4, 2012

WOODVILLE — Area authorities are searching for an inmate who took advantage of his father’s death to escape from the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility Friday.

Johnny Hall Jr., 30, escaped from the custody of two officers at approximately 12:30 p.m. while being escorted from his father’s wake at the Picayune Funeral Home in Picayune.

A press release from the Mississippi Department of Corrections says Hall appears to have jumped into a waiting black vehicle with a white, blonde female driver.

Hall, who was serving a 17-year sentence for three convictions of burglary from Pearl River County, has brown eyes, blonde hair and weighs 175 pounds.

He has multiple tattoos, including “Courtney” on his right arm and “Lil Johnny” on his chest.

He was last seen wearing a yellow state issued jumpsuit with the logo “MDOC convict” on the back.

Anyone with information or who sees Hall is asked to contact the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility at 601-888-3199 or MDOC at 662-745-6611.

That is what comes from the “rights” they give felons. He set this up with her before the funeral. They try to be nice to trash and this is what they get. Now this thug is out among the decent people and someone may get hurt. I believe a PRISON should be just that, not a resort where our local trash goes to rest up, fatten up and learn how to be a better thug. Make prison as uncomfortable and hard as possible. These so called prisons we have now with all the ACLU goodies in them really aren’t someplace these thugs won’t to stay away from.

Exactly what were the clods doing that were suppose to be watching him?

So we’re looking for a white thug?

Tooooo many privileges for inmates. If he wanted to pay his respects to his dad then he should have started long ago by being respectful to his parents an behaved his stupid self. Inmates don’t diserve to go outside those gates for any reason at all.

Shouldn’t he have been shackled from waist down?

Listen, it’s pretty low to use your own dad’s funeral, as a means of escape.  Have they caught this thug and his thugette yet?  And Natcheznative, I have the same question.  Exactly what were the COs doing while he was escaping???
