Aldermen call special meeting for casino lease

The Natchez Board of Aldermen will have a specially called meeting at 4 p.m. today to discuss the final draft of the city’s lease with Natchez Gaming Enterprises for the Roth Hill casino site.

It will be in the City Council Chambers.

    Taxpayers ought to fill the council building to the walls and voice their opinions from all indications this deal is rotten!!!!

    Rushed last minute efforts on the part of a few to try to wisp this amended agreement through the Natchez Board of Alderman. The shear desperation calls into question the “insider” motives. Remember, look to the squeaky wheel to find the corrupt bearing.

    OK, meeting should be over by now.(8:30 pm)
    What happened?

    They went into executive session and talked via teleconference to the lawyer in Jackson.  It is my understanding the city hired the lawyer.  No other decision was made except to meet again at 9am on Tuesday morning.

    I checked my email and the lawyer will be there in person on Tuesday and they may or may not take a vote then.

    Not negative…there are a lot of things about this whole “deal” that smell to high heavens.
