NATCHEZ — The St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge in Adams County is set to be featured as part of a National Geographic Channel series at 8, 9 and 10 p.m. today.

The miniseries is called “Wild Mississippi,” and will be shown in three consecutive parts.

The series focuses on the ever-changing elements of the Mississippi River and its effects on wildlife.

The show’s production crew spent an entire year traveling the length of the river to collect footage, including a stop at the refuge.

The first segment — “Wild Mississippi: Deep Freeze” focuses on harsh winter survival strategies of the northern U.S.

The second segment — “Raging Waters” — looks at the flood of this past spring.

The third part — “Delta Blues” — focuses on the Mississippi Delta.

The local refuge is a home or stopping place for a wide variety of birds and other wildlife.

The National Geographic Channel is channel 495 on the CableOne HDTV package. It is also available through area satellite providers.

We also have a lot of “Wild” life running free around here that LEL Lillie won’t put in jail.  They seemed to have missed a chance for a 4th segment of the program.
