One Tased, two arrested at NHS

NATCHEZ — Three people were arrested and one person Tased Friday night on the campus of Natchez High School.

Natchez police arrest reports indicate those who were arrested, ages 18-21, were apparently not students at the high school.

The first arrest was of Kenneth K. Chatman, 21, 21 Henderson St., at 9:15 p.m., on a bench warrant for three counts of contempt of court for failure to pay.

Two more officers were called to the scene for crowd control, a Natchez police report says, at the time of Chatman’s arrest.

A second officer apparently told Ricardo D. Page, 18, 2747 Itasca Drive, to stop smoking on campus, and Page was arrested after he refused to comply and resisted arrest.

The report says Page cursed at police, telling them he was only smoking a cigarette and to “back off.”

Police reportedly continued to ask Page to comply with campus rules and put out the cigarette as Page continued to yell at the officer.

When an officer told Page he was going to arrest him, Page reportedly snatched his hand “aggressively,” and continued to resist arrest. The officer then Tased Page with a five-second burst. Page was then transported to NPD and booked at 9:35 p.m. on charges of failure to comply with request and resisting arrest.

Following Page’s arrest, a third suspect, Shanteria M. Hawkins, 19, 8 Davis Court, reportedly began to yell at police, saying, “This is some bull—-,” and refused to give an officer her name when he asked what it was.

Hawkins was arrested and booked at 9:23 p.m., as well, on charges of disturbing the peace and providing false information or identification to a law enforcement officer.

Natchez Police Interim Chief Danny White could not be reached for comment about what the suspects were doing on campus.

Typical of a Natchez Public social event. The trash shall rise to the top and stink up the whole place. And whose family name is in the middle of this sorry scene? Seems like about every other police report where someone is acting like trash has a family member of the H tribe.

What is this rubbish doing hanging around at the school making school officals job harder than it already is?  The students are already out of control and to add to it you have people like this influencing young minds in a very negative demeanor.  People openly criticize public education and pooint blame at teachers but if there is no order and administration caters toward keeping the peace in the community instead of instilling and upholding values how effective can public education be.  And I would say to this young man it is against the law to smoke in any public place less only a school where have you been living under a rock?! And to the young lady MS. HAWKINS, respect authority and adhere to rules its callled living in a civilized community not “the hood”

Wait till you see the punishment…..

My question was and still is: what were they doing on campus at that time, anyway?

Betcha, when they were in school, they were not there half of the time.  Wonder if they even graduated?

Just saying: A rec. complex in the bean field I feel will be the get together of these type gangs that will be drugs and fatalities of all kinds of crime! Think about this now seriously for its going to happen  with damage and distruction which is a waste to even think about for you can’t have nothing nice when it public in Adams County??!! Who’s going to be liable when it happens??!!

It is impossible to EVER make the mistake to call these hoodrats “students”. They are trash, vermin…the product of unchecked generations of aggressive self-inflicted ignorance. The whole crowd should have gone to jail.

  • Anonymous

The perp(s) will be liable and possibly their parents if they are juvies.  Problem is – collecting, if you can prove them guilty.  The good thing about the location of the proposed complex is within the city limits, thus out of LEL Lillie’s jurisdiction.

  • Anonymous

…er…uh…you use that term “MS” very loosely when speaking of this vermin…but I agree whole heartedly….THIS is what is wrong with society…these hoodrats have absolutely no self-respect, no shame, no sense of right or wrong. They live only for the moment and intentionally display well honed ghetto thugism as a badge of honor…to see who can out-thug the other, who can “front” and “aks a fool” to draw attention to themselves with no fear of repercussions. It is telling that the officer had to radio for backup and crowd control for these “exhibits” often escalate into a full fledge frenzy of lawlessness.

  • Anonymous

Punishment? They’ll be out of jail and ghetto high-fiving one another…proud of their moment to exhibit their well honed “talent”.

Where is the outrage of the “community”? Where are the so-called “community” leaders? Sickening…truly sickening.

After 18 and NO diploma, you should be banned from high school anyway as you have more than likely demonstrated, you aren’t interested in getting an education, just causing distractions.  You’re too old to be around the students and you sure don’t need to be causing the administration and the teachers who really are trying to teach, any problems.  Chances are, if they’d graduated, and were productive, being at a high school causing a disturbance, would be the farthest from their minds.  Sad reflection on THEM.  No one else.  THEY are personally responsible for their own behavior, unless their parents didn’t do their part.

I understand this was a nighttime event, similar to the recent cross dressing event, possibly dubbed Natchez Idol?  How’s that to set a standard for someone to “Idolize”?.

you are too sterotypical and racist…you sit begin your computer and type hate comments all day, instead of trying to make the situation better!

  • Anonymous

wow, are you carrying resentments or what??

  • Anonymous

Nope…not “sterotypical” or racist…just fed up. And you should be too.

  • CatTiger

and what have you done to make things better? Natchez law enforcement needs to do MORE of anything NOW and tagging the PROBLEMS with tazers sounds like a good start!

Resentments? Resentments? Resent what? Resent perhaps that the whole thug culture is swallowing our Miss-Lou into nothingness…and no one from the “community” seems to care or dare to make a stand…unless of course it involves hurling accusations of racism.

I resent my tax $ going to events like this!

rec. complex? Heck a new swimming pool only lasts a coupe of years in natchez and how many people did it take to manage that and keep down the fights, dopeing and broken bottles out of the pool. Believe me it would cost more to manage and guard a rec. complex in natchez than it would cost to build it.

    true , true, and no

  • CatTiger

No doubt… and your comments about thugs being “proud of their moment”, your spot on. Nothing racist, a simple statement about what will ACTUALLY happen.

  • Anonymous

Preach on….or…I resent my tax dollars going to feed worthless vermin like this who have absolutely no respect for themselves, others or the law of the land.

  • Anonymous

I wonder if the “we” will ever overcome the deep hole they’re digging for themselves by existing entirely off “entitlements”???

  • Anonymous

Exactly, but the old saying, “The ‘hit’ dog always barks first” has an altogether new meaning in this case. I guess one can’t express their honest and true opinion without offending the protected “entitlement” nation.

they built a car wash on st. catherine street once, It lasted a few months, then anything worth a penny was ripped from it,s moorings…typical..don,t need a explanation..

  • Anonymous

Yep…the same will happen to the new laundry downtown too…only a matter of time

  • Anonymous

  • Anonymous

SAD.because…you probably speak to all these people…yet..sit behind your computer and hate on them

  • Anonymous

Not…I tell the truth…plain and simple. And its just not me, there’s a growing rumble of people that are fed up. Look for radical changes to local, state and national politics accordingly.

You’re a previous poster who was booted off…and now back under another screen name. Good luck with that…let me know how it works out for you.

Deer in the Headlights…you’re stirring up trouble. I state my opinion clearly.

It is obvious that you only want to pounce upon posts by others instead of contributing to the conversations as a whole.

Those rose colored glasses must be blurry.

  • Anonymous

No i am not…actually, i read the blogs daily, have never been booted from anywhere…However, I cannot help but pay attention to your disrespect for humanbeings, in particular the ones who are troubled.  I find it very disturbing that this is what makes your day go better…to talk about people, rather than to come up with solutions.
