VIDALIA — The Vidalia softball team went undefeated in its own softball tournament this weekend after rallying to defeat Mangham Saturday morning and LaSalle Saturday afternoon.

In the first game of the day, Vidalia quickly found itself down 3-0 and trailed again 4-2 before using a five-run rally in the bottom of the third inning to defeat Mangham 10-4.

Laura Perilloux came on in relief of Taylor Rodgers and pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings on three hits with one strikeout and one walk to pick up the win. Rodgers allowed four runs on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 3 1/3 innings.

Katlyn Thornton went 3-for-4 with a double and Kennedy Beard was 3-for-4 for Vidalia, which put the game on ice with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

In the afternoon session, Vidalia once again found itself on the wrong end of the scoreboard as it was down to LaSalle 3-1 after two and a half innings. But a seven-run rally in the bottom of the third inning — the same half-inning used in the comeback win over Mangham — propelled the Lady Vikings to 15-6 win over the Lady Tigers.

LaSalle did try to answer Vidalia’s rally and scored three runs in the top of the fourth to make it an 8-6 ball game. However, the Lady Vikings scored the final seven runs of the game, five of them in the bottom of the sixth that put the game away.

Beard went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs batted in and five stolen bases. Kelsee Partridge went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Perilloux got the win despite allowing six runs (three earned) on 10 hits in five innings of work. Rogers came in for the final two inning and gave up just one hit and walked one.

White suffered the loss for LaSalle after giving up 9 runs (all earned) on seven hits with six strikeouts, eight walks, one hit batter and four wild pitches. Three pitchers combined to walk 13 batters.

Vidalia (13-9) plays host to Marksville at 4 p.m. Monday.
