MONTEREY — Services for Leroy Levear Book Jr., 58, of Monterey, who died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Era Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Baker officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Mr. Book was born Nov. 25, 1953, in Ferriday, the son of Leroy Levear and Sally Marina Book. He was employed by Scott Truck and Tractor for 29 years and most recently worked as parts manager. He was assistant chief with the Monterey Fire Department, a basic EMT and a member of the Vidalia Masonic Lodge No. 305 F&AM. He attended New Era Baptist Church.

Mr. Book was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Book; one son, Brandon Book of Monterey; four sisters, Alene Reese of Monterey, Ann Cowan and husband, Harvey, and Marie White and husband, Bo, all of Ferriday, and Corinne Fisher and husband, Gerald, of Dry Prong; one brother, Gary Book and wife, Gayla, of Monterey; mother-in-law, Nell Crawford of Enterprise, La.; sister-in-law, Susan Crawford of Enterprise; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Crawford and wife, Terri, of Vidalia and Chad Crawford and wife, Robin, of Sicily Island; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Charles Hinson, David Hedrick, Frankie Carroll, Mike Clark, Roger Calkins and Tyler Blalock.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Metro Ambulance, Scott Tractor Company, Monterey Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. J. Kevin Ingram, Dr. Ronnie Gregg and Dr. John O’Brien.
