NATCHEZ — Two Natchez men were arrested Tuesday after drug enforcement authorities intercepted approximately $55,000 worth of marijuana in a package reportedly addressed to their residence.

According to a news release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics — with the help of Metro Narcotics and the Ridgeland Police Department — arrested Benjamin Stratton Willis, 30, 509 N. Canal St., on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after he reportedly signed for a package that was supposed to contain four pounds of hydroponic marijuana.

Local police in Jackson had previously intercepted the package, which was addressed to Willis, and the marijuana had been turned over to MBN.

After Willis signed for the package, MBN obtained a search warrant for his residence. In the bedroom of Joseph Harmen Willis, 34, the agents reportedly found Xanax and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana. Joseph Willis was arrested and charged possession of alprazolam and possession of marijuana.

Both men were released on no bond.

I know these guys and they are not criminals, far from it. It appears one or both have made a mistake but they come from a good family and are not bad guys. They are no “flight risk”… really bail! They will go to court and pay their dues for society. What else do you want old timer, LIFE.

Article incorrect….both were released on bail after booking and arrest!!  Both also have been arraigned!!

HHHMMMM. Life really wouldn’t be a bad idea. Not criminals????? $55,000.00 worth of pot isn’t against the law? As far as I’m concerned, all of these druggies…dealers and users….should be locked up and left to rot. And I assure you, I’m not an OLDTIMER. Grow up or is your head too clouded from the smoke?

Frankly, I think we waste way too much money catching and incarcerating pot heads. It should be legal, but right now, it is not. That makes them criminals. Should they get life? No.

My comment was about the story stating that they were released without bond. Turns out that the story was incorrect. Had it been correct, by question would stand and I would stand by it.
