Edwin Haworth named president of Delta Bank

VIDALIA — Cliff Merritt, CEO of Delta Bank, recently announced that R. Edwin Haworth has been named president of Delta Bank.

Haworth is a native of High Point, N.C. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he earned his bachelor’s in finance. He completed the graduate school of banking at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and continued his banking education in the RMA and Omega Consumer and Commercial Lending Programs.

Haworth began his career in finance in 1978 as branch manager at Nashville City Bank and Trust Company. His banking career led him to Nations Bank of Tennessee in Greeneville, Tenn., and then on to BPC Corporation in Cookeville, Tenn.

In 2006, Mr. Haworth became market president of Ameris Bank in St. Mary’s, Ga. Most recently he has served as chief credit officer at State Bank of Georgia in Fayetteville, Ga.

Haworth has served on a variety of boards and civic committees over the years including president of United Way and chamber of commerce noards in Tennessee and Georgia. He has been active in several Episcopal Church Parishes, having served as a Vestry member and Senior Warden. Prior affiliations include Boy Scouts of America, and he is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International.

He is married to Louanna Haworth and they will reside in the Miss-Lou area.
