Trojans to name new head coach

ferriday — Ferriday High School is expected to announce its new head football coach at tonight’s Concordia Parish School Board meeting.

The posting for the position to replace departed coach Richard Oliver closed at 4 p.m. Wednesday, and Assistant Principal James Davis and Interim Superintendent Paul Nelson will interview at least three candidates for the position today.

Nelson said he and Davis would make the decision on the new football coach based on today’s interviews.

One candidate for the position is current assistant coach Cleothis Cummings, and the other candidates are from out of town, Nelson said.

Oliver left Ferriday in June to become the athletic director and head football coach at Baker High School.
