Driver steals truck from dealership’s lot

Published 12:04am Thursday, July 19, 2012

NATCHEZ — The driver of the red 2012 Toyota Tacoma that recently rolled off the Trace City Toyota parking lot got a good deal on the new truck.

But the free ride could be short-lived once Natchez police enter the picture with felony charges.

Natchez Lt. Craig Godbold said police are asking area residents to be on the lookout for the truck that was last seen in the parking lot of the dealership Saturday.

The truck is valued at $38,000 and has designs on the sides of the truck.

Anyone with information about the truck should call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000, NPD at 601-445-5565 or the dealership at 601-446-5588.

Callers can remain anonymous.

Okay so this fleet isn’t equipped with some sort of GPS that can be removed when vehicle is actually purchased? Sure, it costs but what’s the cost now? Was the driver test driving it? Here, anyone test driving a vehicle either has a dealership employee with them or they leave their driver’s license. Don’t do any of these and you don’t get to test drive the car.

Wouldn’t a description and even an idea of the colors on the truck be helpful?  It’s kind of hard to look out for a vehicle when all you are given is the make and model.

Dovechase, what part of RED did you miss in the article ??????

Willy the Kid just stopped someone from getting ripped off by having to pay $38K for a truck. The Yoty Toty place says a hundred dollars will not beat anyone else’s deal. REGARDLESS!!

There are lots of reds out there, kinda narrow it down.  It would also be helpful to know what designs were on the signs, but I guess you can apparently find the truck from the vague description given.

RED is RED. when you stop at a stop sign or traffic light, do you question it because it might not be the right color of red?! Derrrrrrpppp.

So if you are in a candy apple red truck and the one stolen was a dark metallic red, wouldn’t it be a waste of time for an officer to stop you and check you out just because someone turned in a RED truck??  Or maybe asking for specifics is a little much for someone small minded to comprehend.

That truck is probably in Jackson now and stripped down to the frame. It will never be found up there because no one in Jacktown will tell on any thief, murderer, rapist or gang-banger.

Maybe they could put magnetic signs on their display vehicles – ” Stolen from Trace City Toyota”.
