Centreville man arrested for allegedly shooting his mother

CENTREVILLE (AP) — A 20-year-old Centreville man is in jail and his mother is hospitalized after he allegedly shot her in the face.

Police Chief Jimmy Ray Reese said Thomas Dixon and his mother were arguing when the son allegedly shot his mother with a .410-gauge shotgun early Tuesday morning.

Reese says alcohol was probably involved.

Melissa Dixon is being treated at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville.

Thomas Dixon was charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence.

He remains in jail with no bond set.

It’s not clear whether Thomas Dixon has an attorney.

    You shoot someone in the face with a .410 gauge shotgun I would think the charge would be attempted murder. By the time the DA squirms around and worries about his conviction record and the lawyers get through playing the system this idiot will probably end up being charged with illegally discharging a firearm. 1 WALL + 1 BULLET = NO MORE PROBLEM WITH THIS IDIOT!!

    Does MS have an attempted murder charge?  I think aggravated assault is their version….Although I could have LA and MS confused.  I know one of them doesn’t have it.

    IF he’s at home with her, time for him to go, matter of fact, its been past time for him to go!  Have a nice life son, but if you even get the gumption to even want to pick up anything and harm your mother, even if she did try to discipline you, tell you, you don’t know it all, or whatever, it’s time for you to be gone, ASAP.  You’re an adult now.  I tried.  But I WILL NOT live in abject fear of something I brought into this world.  This is a true testament to the times and a sad one at that.  This has angered me, but I will not be too hostile, as I would be interested to know more about this.
