MARY KATHRYN CARPENTER/THE NATCHEZ DEMOCRAT — A dump truck waits Friday afternoon to pour its load of asphalt into an asphalt spreader. From the spreader, the asphalt is distributed over the dirt surface that will soon be the parking lot of the new Wendy’s.

NATCHEZ — With construction of the new Wendy’s scheduled to wrap up in 11 days, local Wendy’s lovers could be enjoying Frostys and fries before Labor Day.

Carlisle Corporation Marketing Manager Kristin Budzak said the company will set the grand opening for the restaurant, which will be located at 288 Seargent S. Prentiss Drive at the old Trace City Toyota location, next week.

“We’re certainly doing our best to be open at Labor Day,” Budzak said.

Labor Day is Sept. 3.

Budzak said the remaining construction work is fairly minimal, and the restaurant should be handed over to operations Aug. 13 to prepare for the opening.

While I’m not thrilled to see another fast-food restaurant setup shop, I can appreciate the beautiful (and expensive) landscaping they are planting. Makes the bypass look a little better.

Hallelujah and pass the ketchup!!  I must say, probably THE BEST fast-food burger I have EVER had was from a Wendys in Brookhaven just a month ago. If the new Natchez location can make ‘em that good, consistently, they will clean up, ’cause it was smackingly good. Best wishes to a new business, and its’ employees!

I like the Wendy’s chili. Their hot sauce isn’t hot but I bring the chili home and spice it up there. Lip smacking good for a fast food joint.

Ground based sign is much better than the tall pole wonders – add this to the new architectural standards.    Thanks, Wendy’s and welcome back.

Can’t wait for the fresh hamburger patties they cook up . It’s better than those frozen patties the others serve up. I like their new salads I had one in Kenner La. the other night it was great.

Is the new Wendy’s under different ownership than the previous one?

Glad they are replacing their “previous” location……… Problem around here, is who the employees are going to be…. Thats what kills restaurants in Natchez, and MS.   Sister Girls with attitudes that don’t care if the place is clean, if another sister girl has left one of her kids soiled diapers laying in the parking lot, or if they left out 1/2 your order…..  I have family that comes occasionally to visit us here in Natchez, and after being waited on in one of our restaurants or visiting one of our big box retail stores—- boldly state: “I sure am glad I don’t live here any more” or ” I could never live here”…… Good luck Wendys training these untrainables that will run you into the ground if you don’t have good management…. Please emphasize manners too…..

Too bad they didn’t put Taco Casa there instead.
