Armed robbery and assault reported Sunday

Published 12:04am Monday, August 6, 2012

NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police Department is investigating a Sunday armed robbery and assault on North Union Street.

According to reports at the Natchez Police Department, the victim of the robbery was asleep on the couch at 1023 N. Union St. when three unknown males with their faces covered entered the residence through the front door, one reportedly wielding a gun and another carrying a knife.

The report states that the victim told police the men grabbed him and began to strike him in the head and face with a hard object, likely a gun, and demand money.

The victim told police he led the attackers to a bedroom and gave them a sum of cash because he was afraid he would be further harmed, the report states.

After taking the money the attackers reportedly left the residence, fleeing out the front door.

The victim was treated at Natchez Regional Medical Center for the wounds received during the attack.

Didn’t give the victim’s name but put the address in there? The thugs had to know the victim to know he had money, probably his SS check.

Is there a reason why the names and addresses of the victims are always included in articles? I can understand having the suspects’ information, but it doesn’t seem like printing the victim’s information is in their best interest.

I know one thing for sure….Three thugs come into my home, rob me and be stupid enough to turn their backs on me and  run would be picking buckshot out of their backsides for a looong time. This old woman has eagle eyes with perfect aim and practices quite often with her 12 gauge.

This is happening way to often around this town…. The police need to beef up patrols and stop what they have been doing and start doing what they get paid to actually do…. I cant even keep up with how many times this has happened in the past few years but I know it is way too many for a town this size…. This is ridiculous and uncalled for….. If the city judges cat rule without showing favoritism then maybe it is time to get some on the bench who know what to do… if it the state laws that are preventing them from getting harsher sentences then it is time to pass some laws so the time fits the crime…. if we keep going like this we will all become victims. This is just sad and uncalled for to know this is happening in a town this size. Mr. Mayor, BOA, Sheriff, Police chief, Judges…. it is high time y’all had a meeting and got on the same page with things around here and start taking some action with all the lawlessness in this town and start holding the ones responsible, accountable  for their actions. This problem is not going to go away on it’s own it is going to take some actual work and intelligence to get rid of the problem. Y’all screamed about making change and could do a better job when you was campaigning so here is your chance… time to step up to the plate and do what you said you would do….

I agree…When I raise my 40 cal. and point it at them, I will say. “that locked door was for your protection…not mine!! lol I believe FIRMLY in our right to bear arms…People think if they take that amendment away, the thugs wont get guns…..think about it…drugs are illegal….they still get them!! all that will do is make us as citizens who buy firearms LEAGLY, more vulnerable

The police and business owners in this neighborhood need to keep the thugs from hanging around….It is sad that the police came by Cathedral friday and were about to give tickets to people parked out in front of the school in the grass yard near the sidewalks but yet they let all these hoodlums hang around the street corners all day and night long… i

Turned loose over and over to commit the same things over and over,,I think the judges should have to serve some time for turning releasing the same person to prey on citizens. Then they might see how the victims feel.

Don,t see very few if any patrol cars in the Morgantown area,or Foresite, all kinds of things going down, but nobody around.

This is the very reason why Natchez needed a Police Chief with a firm hand and a Mayor and Board of Aldermen to back HIM up.  Why give the job to someone that couldn’t make changes in the past year.  GIVE ME A BREAK NATCHEZ-YOU GET JUST WANT YOU DESERVE!!!

I agree with you 100%. If anyone is outside on Main Street at anytime with an open container, the NPD will write you a citation, yet all of the thugish ruggish fools at the Shop-N-Save next to Cathedral are allowed to just hang outside with their 40oz drinks from 9:00am until… This CRAP needs to stop.
You try doing this in a nice place like Madison (the city) in Madison County, you won’t last 10 minutes; And we wonder why industry and jobs are leaving Natchez and the ones that are not here won’t even look twice because our Public Schools are so bad, along with all of the foolishness on the streets.
I believe that the new Police Chief needs to step up and do what every other one has been afraid to do, clean the damn trash off of our streets!!!!

New Police Chief ??  Why haven’t these knuckleheads been apprehended as yet…Danny best push away from the buffet table, & get busy…

I mean— let our Police show  some interest in doing their job…
