NATCHEZ — Matt Burrowes has joined the staff of The Natchez Democrat as a reporter and designer.

Burrowes, a native of Water Valley and a graduate of Mississippi State University, has been living in Natchez in recent months.

He originally joined the staff of The Democrat in 2007 as a sports reporter, but later went on to work at the Starkville Daily News and the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News.

Most recently, Burrowes was the news editor at the Laurel Leader-Call.

Burrowes will be writing news and feature stories in the Miss-Lou, among other duties at the newspaper.

He is married to the former Amy Bankston of Natchez. They have one son, Brayden, who is 3.
