PRENTISS — The Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams gave David Wright his first win as their new head coach by defeating the Prentiss Christian School Saints 27-6 Friday night.

“(There are) a lot of emotions running through my body, a lot of emotions running through my head,” Wright said. “We had a lot of people from Woodville make the two-hour trip here. We had a packed house on the away stand. It was standing room only.”

And throughout the game, Wright said he liked what he saw from his team on both sides of the ball.

“Good quarterback play with Taylor Prevost. He threw a touchdown pass and ran for a touchdown. Kaleb Sterling ran the ball absolutely wonderful. Quincy Thompson played good defensively and offensively. Offensive lineman Tyler Radley and Winston Woodard, their engines kept running when others were gasping for air,” Wright said.

Wright added that the team still has a few things to work on, but he was definitely pleased with the players’ effort and determination.

“The kids fought hard. We put it to them in the second quarter,” Wright said.

WCCA (1-0) begins MAIS South Central A (District 3-A) action next Friday night when the Rams host Glenbrook School. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
