Fat Mama’s poker run set for Saturday

The Krewe of Fat Mama’s Tamales is sponsoring the second annual Natchez poker run to benefit the Adams County Search & Rescue. The Adams County Search & Rescue is a volunteer, non-profit service organization, dedicated to the search and rescue assistance of the populace of Adams County.

Registration for the Natchez poker run begins at Fat Mama’s Tamales restaurant at 9 a.m., Saturday. Registration is $25 for bike, $15 for riders and $15 for each additional hand. Any street legal vehicle is welcome to participate!

This is a guided run with the lead car out at 10:30 a.m. At each site a rider chooses a playing card, attempting to obtain the best poker hand. On this 85-mile ride, riders can view the Mississippi River, Mississippi and Louisiana farmlands and the Natchez Trace on this scenic route. The schedule is:

Registration and first card: Fat Mama’s Tamales — 303 S. Canal St., Natchez, 10 a.m.

Second card: Chances Saloon — 1214 Fourth St., Jonesville, La., 11 a.m.

Third card: The Steel Horse — 266 Highland Blvd., Natchez, noon

Adams County Search and Rescue will have hamburger plates at the Steel Horse for $5, starting at noon.

Fourth card: John’s Place — 835 U.S. 61 North, Natchez, 1 p.m.

Fifth card: Under-the-Hill Saloon — 25 Silver St., Natchez, 2 p.m.

Any cards missed at one of these locations may be recouped at Fat Mama’s Tamales between 2:30 and 3. Winners, announcements and prizes will be at Fat Mama’s Tamales at 3 p.m.

All times are approximate depending on time of travel.

There will be prizes awarded for the following categories: cleanest bike, dirtiest bike, oldest bike, loudest bike, best bling, longest distance traveled, most unique bike, most patriotic, most unique helmet and largest group.

Krewe members will be stationed at each site to provide cards. The event ends at Fat Mama’s Tamales. The best poker hand wins $300; second prize is $200 and third prize is $100. Many thanks to them for our prize donations! All prize monies are donated so that all registration proceeds benefit Adams County Search & Rescue.

Special thanks goes to our T-shirt sponsors too. A 50/50 bucket is also available where a donation of $5 yields a ticket. At the close of the ride whoever holds the winning ticket wins 50 percent of the money in the bucket with the other 50 percent given to Adams County Search & Rescue.
