NFD offering free smoke detectors
Published 12:02am Thursday, September 27, 2012NATCHEZ — Residents needing new smoke detectors can contact the Natchez Fire Department to request installation of a new detector at no charge.
Fire Chief Oliver Stewart said residents can call the department at 601-442-3684 and provide their address to receive a new smoke detector.
The department, he said, will install the new detector for free.
Smoke detectors more than five years old, Stewart said, need to be replaced. The detectors the fire department will provide have a 10-year warranty, he said.
