HEIDELBERG — For three quarters, Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s offense was held in check by a Heidelberg Academy team that was trying to get into the win column for the first time this season.

The Rams finally broke through with Taylor Prevost’s touchdown run early in the fourth quarter and Dra’ Tolliver’s interception return for a touchdown late in the game gave the Rams a hard-fought 16-6 win over the Rebels Friday night.

WCCA got on the board first when Prevost made a 37-yard field goal. But Heidelberg Academy would not let this become an easy win for the Rams. The Rebels took the lead with 2:46 to go until halftime when ShawDarin Porter scored on a 2-yard run, but the two-point conversion run was no good and they took a 6-3 lead at the break. After being held scoreless for the second straight quarter, the Rams retook the lead with 10:34 left in the fourth quarter on Prevost’s 1-yard run. He added the extra point to give them a 10-6 advantage. The Rebels had one last chance before Tolliver intercepted a pass and returned it 39 yards for a touchdown that put the game away.
