Adams County Justice Court Cases

Week of Sept. 21-27:

Edna Hoggatt pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. Hoggatt was also charged with with animal cruelty. Case remanded to files.

Tyrone K. White charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Case bound over to a grand jury.

Sheldon Donald pleaded guilty to DUI — first offense other than alcohol.

Daniel Walk pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana. Walk also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Walk was also charged with possession of a schedule V controlled substance. Case dismissed.

Bobby Ray Brown pleaded guilty to simple assault.

Kenny Wayne Kayo pleaded not guilty to move over law.

Adams County Circuit Court Cases

Friday, Sept. 21:

Horace Pullins III has his probation revoked in Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders’ court for violating terms and conditions of his probation: rule numbered Three regularly report in person to his probation officer as directed by him or by the court; rule numbered 15 pay to the Mississippi Department of Corrections such monthly reporting fee as authorized by the laws of the State of Mississippi and said fee to be paid monthly by certified check or money order; rule numbered 18 pay all court cost within thirty days from Jan. 11, 2011. The defendant is sentenced to the Mississippi Restitution Center until all court costs and supervision fees are paid in full.

Charles Buchanan pleaded guilty to sexual battery in Sanders’ court. Sentenced to five years in MDOC. Upon release from MDOC, the defendant shall immediately register as a sex offender. Credit given for any time already served in the Adams County Jail.

John Dillard pleaded guilty to simple robbery (Count 1) in Sanders’ court. Sentenced to 12 years in MDOC. The defendant shall enroll into and successfully complete the long-term Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program before release from MDOC. Counts two (armed robbery) and three (possession of a weapon by a convicted felon) in the indictment are dismissed. Credit given for any time already served in the Adams County Jail.

Tuesday, Aug. 28:

Joseph England has his probation revoked in Sanders’ court for violating terms and conditions of his probation: rule numbered nine not violate any laws of the United States or any state thereof. Sentenced to five years in MDOC. The defendant shall enroll in and successfully complete the long term Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program. Upon release from MDOC, the defendant is prohibited from entering onto any premises of Wal-Mart. Credit given fro any time already served.

Monday, Aug. 27:

Crystal Rose has his post-release supervision revoked in Judge Forest “Al” Johnson’s court for clearly being in violation of the terms of his supervision when he was charged and later pleaded guilty to the felony charge of burglary on July 23. Must serve the remaining balance of his sentence in MDOC.

Wednesday, Aug. 22:

Destiny Sullivan was indicted by a grand jury for grand larceny in cause No. 12-KR-0032-S. Sullivan previously pleaded guilty to shoplifting — thirrd offense in cause No. 12-KR-0033-S and was placed in the drug court program. In light of the plead and placement into drug court and per agreement in cause 12-KR-0033-S, the State moves to enter this case nolle prosequi with the understanding that the defendant will be responsible for all restitution. Case is entered nolle prosequi and dismissed in Sanders’ court.

Tuesday, Aug. 21:

Francis Torries pleaded guilty to grand larceny Sanders’ court. The court withholds acceptance of the defendant’s plea and enters an Order of Non Adjudication and places the defendant into the Drug Court Program until the Court imposes a sentence; pending successful completion of the conditions of the drug court program and the conditions imposed in the Order. Must pay all court costs and a prosecution fee of $200 within 90 days from this day to the office of the Adams County Circuit Clerk. Restitution shall be determined in this matter within 90 days from this day. MDOC fees shall be waived and the defendant is ordered to pay Drug Court fees in the amount of $50 per month. Must pay an assessment in the amount of $1,000.00 to the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Adult Drug Court Program.

Destiny Sullivan pleaded guilty to felony shoplifting — third offense in Sanders’ court. The court withholds acceptance of the defendant’s plea and enters and Order of Non Adjudication and places the defendant into the Drug Court Program until the Court imposes a sentence; pending successful completion of the conditions of the drug court program and the conditions imposed in this Order. Must pay all court cost, restitution in the following amounts: $648 to Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and $134 to Hair Crown, and a prosecution fee of $200 in this matter. All payments shall be paid to the office of the Adams County Circuit Clerk. Cases 12-KR-0032-S and 12-KR-0034-S will be nolle processed and dismissed upon motion by the State with the understanding that the defendant will be responsible for all restitution in these cases. MDOC fees shall be waived and the defendant is ordered to pay Drug Court fees in the amount of $50 per month. Must pay an assessment fee of $1,000.00 to the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Adult Drug Court Program.

Tuesday, Aug. 7:

Bevan Smith has his case entered nolle prosequi in Sanders’ court for the following reasons: (A) The defendant is currently serving time in a Louisiana federal detention center for conspiracy to possess and pass counterfeit obligations of the United States; (B) part of the factual basis for the defendant’s plea in the Louisiana Federal Court was based on actions of the defendant in this case, creating a potential double jeopardy problem; and (C) The defendant is cooperating with federal prosecutors in Louisiana and is soon scheduled to be a key witness against the alleged leader of this counterfeiting ring.

Thursday, Aug. 2:

Lewis Jackson Jr. pleaded guilty to dog fighting in Johnson’s court. Sentenced to three years in the MDOC suspended and placed on formal probation with MDOC. Must pay a fine of $1,000, all court costs and fees as well as a $200 prosecution fee within 60 days from the date of this Order (Aug. 1, 2012).

Ola Elizabeth Johnson pleaded guilty to unlawful taking of a motor vehicle without authority (Count II) in Johnson’s court. Sentenced to six years in MDOC. Full credit given for time served. After serving one year, the sentence is suspended and the defendant shall be placed on formal reporting post-release supervision for five years with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Furthermore, it is ordered that the defendant have no contact, direct or indirect, with the victim. Must pay all court costs and fees as well as a $200 prosecution fee with 60 days from the date of this Order (Aug. 1, 2012).

Wednesday, Aug. 1:

Zachary Carter pleaded guilty to felony shoplifting in Johnson’s court. The court withheld acceptance of the guilty plea pending the successful completion of the following conditions: (1) His future good behavior and that he violate no laws, for a period of up to three years, or further order of the court; (2) Payment of all court costs, including any fees incurred by Adams County, as well as a $200 prosecution fee within 60 days from the date of this Order (July 31, 2012); and (3) defendant is barred from the Natchez Mall for a period of three years.
