Co-Lin wins close one

FULTON — A fourth quarter field goal by Nolan Long and a key interception by Natchez-native Jeremy Davis sealed a victory for the Copiah-Lincoln Community College football team Thursday night.

The Wolfpack topped Itawamba Community College 17-14 to improve to 5-1 on the season.

The two teams traded touchdowns in the first half with Itawamba getting on the board first in the opening quarter. Co-Lin answered with a 51-yard interception return for a score by Kalen Jackson. After a second Itawamba touchdown, Co-Lin’s Darius Guy found the end zone on a 43-yard run to make the score 14-14 at half.

Guy finished with 110 yards on 18 carries and one score.

Long chipped in a 23-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, and the Wolfpack defense held on for the win.

Davis finished with two interceptions. Co-Lin will face Pearl River next week.
