Bossier High beats up on Block Bears

JONESVILLE — Bossier High scored 14 points in the first quarter before the Block Bears knew what hit them as the Bearkats went on to rout the No. 9 team in Class 1A Friday night, 39-6.

Bossier scored on a touchdown pass and on a fumble recovery to go ahead 14-0 late in the first quarter. Block scored on a 52-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Vault to Dorian Bowman to make it a 14-6 game in the early goings of the second quarter.

The Bearkats (3-3) then scored 25 unanswered points the rest of the ball game. Their defense forced three turnovers while holding Block to just seven first downs and 246 yards of total offense. Vault completed 3 of 8 passes for 79 yards with two interceptions.

Mario Bowman was the Bears’ leading rusher with 91 yards on nine carries.

Block (4-2) begins LHSAA District 3-1A play at 7 p.m. next Friday when its hosts LaSalle for homecoming.
