LAUREN WOOD / THE NATCHEZ DEMOCRAT — Decorative fixtures called clouds hang from the ceiling of the casino floor as construction on the interior of the Magnolia Bluffs casino continues Thursday morning. The casino will feature 601 slot machines and 12 game tables.

NATCHEZ — Work on both the interior and exterior of Magnolia Bluffs Casino is moving along, and construction is on schedule for the casino’s opening in December.

Project Manager Dennis McEvoy of FoxCor Construction said crews are putting the finishing touches on the cypress siding on the exterior of the building and have begun installing tiles and ceilings in the kitchen area of the casino. Ceilings in the office space and other back areas of the building are also being installed.

Crews are installing the louvers on the outside of the building and started the windows last week, McEvoy said.

Painting on the inside has also begun, as well as the installation of decorative fixtures and wiring for surveillance cameras.

Approximately 50 percent of the paving at the site is complete, McEvoy said.

The parking garage, he said, should be complete in approximately two weeks.

The 43,000-square-foot casino will have 601 slot machines, 12 table games, a center bar with 20 poker games, two restaurants and a player’s club.

An outdoor deck will wrap around the sides and back of the casino and will feature a seating area and a fire pit.

The opening date for the casino is scheduled for Dec. 21.
