NATCHEZ — The victim of a Saturday stabbing at the Under-the-Hill Saloon is in stable condition, and police have obtained new evidence in their investigation.

Natchez Detective Jerry Ford said police were able to get video footage of William Atkins Jr., 42, 136 Lee Ave., Vidalia, stabbing Daryl Hite at the saloon at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Atkins stabbed Hite, who Ford said had reportedly been dating Atkins’ ex-wife, six times in the chest and once in the arm with a medium-sized blade.

Hite was airlifted to a Jackson hospital after being transported to Natchez Regional Medical Center.

Ford said numerous reports at the Vidalia Police Department regarding disagreements between the two men point to a longstanding feud that resulted in the stabbing.

Atkins is still being held without bond, and no arraignment date has been set, Ford said.

Was this supposed to make the ex want him back? Really? Nice to see the cops actually look at video footage. They didn’t when I asked them too. I guess someone has to be sent to a Jackson hospital, not local, to rate that!!!

It’s time this dude was put behind bars and kept there. He has done everything he can do to sully his dad’s good name. He should be so ashamed of himself that he welcomes the fact that he’s not on the public streets anymore.

Right now this man is focusing on the boyfriend, what happens when he turns his rage towards the ex wife? She is a teacher and this could put students in danger.
