Burglaries increase patrols

NATCHEZ — A rash of burglaries has prompted extra police patrols in the downtown Natchez area.

Natchez Police Department Detective Jerry Ford said the department currently has no suspects in four burglaries which occurred the past couple of weeks but DNA has been collected from two scenes.

A computer and a monitor were stolen from an office on Clifton Avenue. The office was broken into Tuesday night and again Wednesday night. Blood was collected from the office where the suspect had broken glass to enter the office. Blood was also collected from another burglary on North Wall Street.

Other burglaries have been reported in the Union Street area. Attempted burglars also vandalized the offices of the Historic Natchez Foundation last weekend.

Ford said it is difficult to tell if the burglaries are related, but he said the DNA results should give police a suspect.

Anyone with any information about the burglaries should call NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.

Crime Stoppers offers a reward up to $1,000 for the arrest and conviction of a suspect because of a tip. Callers can remain anonymous.

AMAZING… there have been home invasions, people attacked, robbed at gun point, businesses and vehicles burglarized, the list is endless and NOW they decide to do something AFTER the Natchez Historic Foundations office gets burglarized? Where was all the concern when it was other people who actually faced danger with a gun in their face inside their own homes? That’s just sad… when this first started being prevalent they should have beefed up patrols then and maybe, just maybe they could have prevented some of this other from happening. Yet NPD always wants money for new vehicles, gadgets or sorts…Try actually making rounds not sitting, talking, eating, sleeping etc,,,and check up on deputies to find out just what and where they are doing… it just seems to be way too much crime for a town this size.

Sounds like the Natchez Police Department suffers from the disease called “Laziness”..Chief Danny chould put down that Cheeseburger, and get to crackin some heads… Natchez not to big a town for some cops to start walking the beat a bit more…Basically, this mess can be nipped in the bud with some good old fashioned police work…Bring in a suspect or two that is wanted on a probations violation, or for excessive warrants—throw them in the dark hole until they talk…I say nip in the bud before more crime like this occurs…Ya listening Chief Danny..?

This hasn’t been reported, but the Hall Vet clinic was broken in to last night, and Jughead’s Fish Fry has been burglarized two times in the past few months. It’s getting pretty bad.
