WCCA rams right past ASC 54-6, Centreville beats Central Private

LIBERTY — The Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams had little trouble in defeating the Amite School Center Rebels 54-6 Friday night to remain undefeated in MAIS District 3-A.

WCCA, ranked No 2 in Class A, scored six of its eight touchdowns on the ground. The Rams were led by Kaleb Sterling, who had four carries for 96 yards and one touchdown. Quincy Thompson added 82 yards and a touchdown on six carries, and Jamal Vessell had five carries for 57 yards and a touchdown. Vessell also picked up a fumble and ran it back 21 yards for a touchdown to cap off the Rams’ 20-point first quarter.

Taylor Prevost, who scored on a 20-yard run in the first quarter, didn’t have to throw the ball too much in the game. The trio of Sterling, Thompson and Vessell also led the Rams’ defense in tackles.

The Rams led 54-0 before Amite School Center (3-6, 2-4) scored on a 6-yard run by Aaron Toler as time expired.

WCCA (8-1, 6-0) hosts CENLA Christian Academy next Friday at 7 p.m. with the district title at stake.

Centreville 40, Central Private 20

BAKER, La. — The Centreville Academy Tigers jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, and then the back-ups came in and did the rest as the No. 1 team in Class AA took care of the Central Private School Rebels in MAIS District 6-AA action Friday night.

Central Private (2-8, 0-4) scored a couple of late touchdowns. Centreville Academy (10-0, 3-0) plays at Silliman Institute next with the district championship on the line.
