NATCHEZ — Services for James Abbott, 90, of Baton Rouge, who died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at the Louisiana War Veterans Home, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Freddie D. Schiele officiating.

Burial will follow at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, La., under the direction of Curtis Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Abbott was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Franklin County, the son of Leon Abbott and Alice Winston Abbott. He was Methodist.

Mr. Abbott was a graduate of Alexander High School in Brookhaven and a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge. He was employed by Crawford Corporation for a number of years and retired from Louisiana State Building after 40 years of service as a supervisor.

Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice Jackson-Abbott; four brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Marie-Abbott of Baton Rouge and Dara Abbott-Payne of Dallas; one son, Sean Kennedy Abbott of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Victoria Dixon, Brandt Dixon, Whitney Dixon, all of Baton Rouge, and Aja Payne of Dallas; two sisters, Mary Abbott-Curtis of Natchez and Lillie Abbott-Garrett of Virginia; one sister-in-law, Ernestine Abbott of Pensicola, Fla.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
