Tribute reminds us to honor heroes

If you missed the helicopter, the men on horseback, the sirens and the line of motorcycles coming into town Wednesday, there’s something special in town.

The mini-parade that made quite the entrance was escorting a trailer carrying a special tribute to our nation’s greatest heroes.

The tribute was on its way to the Natchez Convention Center, where it has now been unpacked and assembled for you to view.

Included in the display is a replica of the Vietnam Wall, a memorial for those killed on Sept. 11, 2001, a tribute to Americans who died in war, and more.

The Miss-Lou Patriotic Tribute Committee has worked for months to make the display a reality, and they very much hope you’ll visit the convention center today through Sunday to view the display. Entrance is free.

The tribute will culminate at 11 a.m. Sunday with a community Veterans Day program.

The Miss-Lou has always been patriotic, but never before has the area hosted such a large community-wide Veterans Day event.

It’s great to have this opportunity to remember our history and our heroes in the midst of our own local veterans and their families.

Check it out this weekend and celebrate your freedom.
