Ben Hillyer | The Natchez Democrat — Before Tuesday morning, most of L’Kaylah Harris’ classmate knew her as a friend. Now they can call her hero. Fire department chief Oliver Stewart and members of the Natchez Fire Department surprised L’Kaylah with two award presentations honoring her quick thinking and bravery that helped rescue her family from a blazing fire in her house. L’Kaylah smiles during the award presentation as she looks down at the shiny red plaque with her name inscribed on it.
