Ben Hillyer/The Natchez Democrat — White dove balloons are released into the sky Monday afternoon in front of McLaurin Elementary School in memory of Randy Foster, who died in June as a result of an accident on his horse. At top left, Taylor Champ hugs one of the balloons in memory of her cousin. Horse riding was one of Foster’s favorite things to do. NATCHEZ — Students, teachers and family gathered at McLaurin Elementary School Monday to say goodbye — and happy birthday — to a cowboy.

Randy Foster, who was a McLaurin fourth grader last year, would have been 11 years old Monday. He died in June in a horse accident.

His classmates, teachers and family members paid tribute to Foster with a birthday cake, ice cream and balloons.

Tamra Ellis hands out balloons to the students, teachers and family members that gathered to celebrate Randy’s birthday and to pay tribute to his memory.
