Woman awakes to intruder

NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police Department is investigating an incident in which a woman awoke to find a burglar in her house last week.

Natchez Police Chief Danny White said the NPD received a call that at approximately 11:45 p.m. Thursday, a woman in the 130 block of Auburn Avenue awoke after hearing a strange noise in her house.

The noise was an unknown person inside the house, White said.

After running to get her children, the victim locked herself in a room and used her Kindle tablet device to send a friend a message on Facebook to call the police, White said.

When the police arrived, the suspect was gone, and no evidence of forced entry could be found, White said.

The chief said some small items were taken.

The matter is under investigation.

    This has happened before and it turned out to be a relative that was shot dead.

    Again, have a big watch dog with long teeth and pop a couple caps into the trespasser and then call the police or sheriff will save the State of Ms. a bunch!!!!

    And to think we have California liberals who want to eliminate all gun ownership by citizens aka Nancy Pelosi types . Can you imagine what the crime rate would be like if these gun abolishing morons in Washington get their way in disarming law abiding American citizens ? For one only criminals would have guns and in a story like this the victims would be at their total mercy . I’m glad this woman or her kids weren’t hurt but a gun can be a great equalizer in the hands of a competent user . Only law abiding citizens should have the privilege of gun ownership . Take the guns from the criminals not law abiding citizens .
