BROOKHAVEN — Services for Herman Douglas Cavin, 72, of Wesson, who died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Kings Daughters Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel.

Burial will follow at Wesson City Cemetery under the direction of Riverwood Family Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Cavin was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Mississippi, the son of Whitley and Vera Perry Cavin. He was a graduate of Natchez High School and a graduate of Hinds Community College. He received his master’s degree from Mississippi State University.

Mr. Cavin taught at Copiah-Lincoln Community College for more than 29 years. He was Baptist.

Herman was an avid hunter and excellent carpenter. His hobby was restoring and collecting antique cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Larry Hinson.

Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Gwen Hinson Cavin; one daughter, Lea Ann Knight and husband, Phillip; one sister, Betty Cavin Smith and husband, Roger; one sister-in-law, Sharon Hinson; one grandchild, Whitney Knight; four nephews; and one niece.
