BURKEVILLE, Texas — Memorial services for Herbert Purvis Goins, 70, of Toledo Bend Lake in Burkeville, Texas, formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his residence after a year long battle with leukemia, will be at 2 p.m. today at Toledo Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.
An additional service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Herbert was born July 18, 1942, in Natchez, the son of Herbert S. and Nannie Purvis Goins. He was employed by Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company in Natchez until plant closure and retired from Pirelle Armstrong Tire in Nashville, Tenn. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Belva Wells Goins; one daughter, Holly Bridget Neely and husband, Trey, of Natchez; one son, Herbert Brian Goins and wife, Kristy, of Centerville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Lesha Wells of Jasper, Texas; Jay P. Wells and wife, Michelle, of Kathleen, Ga.; one sister, Shirley Ann Trest of Ludlow; and four grandchildren, Tyler Neely, David Goins, Nicole Wells and Brittany Wells.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Association, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or a charity of choice.
