NATCHEZ — Natchez police are investigating a Friday strong-arm robbery at a local car wash in which a woman reported she was assaulted and robbed.

According to a police report, the victim reported she was in her car at Lemon Delight Car Wash on the corner of Junkin and East Franklin streets when a man reportedly walked up to the driver’s side door and tapped on the window. The victim reportedly rolled down the window, and the suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at her face and demanded money.

The victim reported the suspect struck her several times with the gun and then with a beer can wrapped in a brown bag, according to the report. The suspect then reportedly took $55 and a cell phone and fled toward St. Catherine Street.

Anyone with any information about the robbery should contact NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 602-442-5000.

Callers can remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers offers a reward up to $1,000 for a tip leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.

wow hope this lady is OK…and the sheriff just asked for a pay raise the police department always wants new vehicles yet people are still dealing with home invasions and armed robbery right on the streets in plain sight…what is becoming of this town? we are too small to be faced with this kind of crime and this much of it. It looks like the people are gonna have to protect themselves and property it seems toe police are too busy doing everything but that… very sad and disappointing.

ALWAYS WATCH YOUR SURROUNDING. NEVER PUT YOURSELF IN HARMS WAY. TRAVEL WITH ANOTHER PERSON IF YOU DON’T FEEL SAFE. THIEVES ARE NOT DUMB. THEY PICK THERE TARKETS. PRESENTING YOURSELF AS EASY TARKET, MAKE IT EASY FOR THEM. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO CARRY A OFFICER AROUND IN YOUR BACK POCKET EVERY WHERE YOU GO. SOME REMOTES TO VEHICLE HAVE PANIC BUTTON ON THEM. I’VE SEEN MANY PEOPLE MAKING THEMSELVES EASY TARKETS. THEY HAVE THAT CELL PHONE STUCK UP IN THERE EAR, WITH A BAG OF GROSERIES IN THE OTHER HAND, HEADED TO THE CAR 12:00 AT NIGHT. THE N.P.D. AS WELL AS THE A.C.S.D. NEEDS OUR HELP AS WELL. CALL THEM WHEN ANYONE LOOKS SUSPICIOUS OF DOING SOMETHING.

    She’ll learn.

ok, why does every topic end up pointing the finger at “blacks?” why don’t you explain the tragedy at Sandy Hook.

That’s not here. It’s not “finger pointing”. There’s statistics to back up certain allegations…

The police like the schools are doing the best they can do. They are cash strapped and dealing with increasing baggage that comes forth in an age such as ours. We just have to do our best, stay alert, and pray.

What a racial comment. Well guess what just as crimes and drugs things that are signs of the times have spilled over into our small community, you can best believe all races will soon feel the negativity even though its probally more prevalent in some then others. Its Sunday, have you read your bible today?

We have an innocent person who was robbed and here we are pointing blame and further dividing among race issues, rather than coming together forming neigborhood watches; offering to run errands for our elderly, and so forth. We are going to have to come together to make this community better.

Wow! That is a terrible thing to say.

It seems that too many just don’t “get it.” It is not about race. It is about crime. I don’t care if they are green, purple or orange. Criminals need to be locked up, so that they cannot prey on the innocent.

I understand what you are saying…. i realize the economy is a big mess and money is limited for everything. it just seems they could cut some corners and do a little better at patrolling knowing the rise in crime as of late.. I know they can’t be everywhere but it seems for the officers both city and county that more could be done to deter this kind of thing.

Race should have never been brought up in this…. every race has it’s own problems to deal with and the last time I checked race was not an issue when it came to crime… WE ALL face this daily in our lives in some way or another and who is to say that some of us would not be the next victim. This is everyone.s problem not just one over the other….

I would bet that his brown paper bag with the beer came from the Shell station across the street – have they checked the security cameras over there? Probably not, it would be more evidence they would have to send off to the state crime lab…….
