Prep girls roundups: Lady Wave stymied in first 3 quarters, fall to Pisgah

BROOKHAVEN — Alexis Luckett led Pisgah with a game-high 19 points and Jennifer Luckett added 17 points as the Pisgah Lady Dragons defeated the Cathedral Lady Green Wave 51-36 Friday night at the Enterprise Tournament.

Pisgah had its way with Cathedral in the first three quarters en route to a 43-20 lead after three quarters of play. The Lady Green Wave were held to five points in the first quarter, six in the second quarter and nine in the third quarter.

With most of the Lady Dragons’ starters on the bench in the fourth quarter, the Lady Green Wave outscored them 16-8 to make the final score somewhat more respectable.

Wesley Calloway led Cathedral (3-9) with 11 points, and Taylor Beesley had seven points. The Lady Green Wave takes on Sacred Heart today at 4 p.m.

Amite County 51, Wilkinson County 40

WOODVILLE — LaMisheon Woodside scored 15 points and Daniesha Jackson chipped in with 11 points as the Amite County Lady Trojans overcame a bad first quarter to defeat the Wilkinson County Lady Wildcats Friday night.

Amite County had about as bad of a first quarter as possible, scoring just two points. Wilkinson County had a golden opportunity to take advantage of the Lady Trojans’ shooting woes, yet led just 9-2 at the end of the quarter.

Once Amite County got its shots to fall in the second quarter, Wilkinson County was in trouble. The Lady Trojans ended up outscoring the Lady Wildcats 18-5 to grab a 20-14 halftime lead. Both teams scored 14 points in the third quarter and the Lady Trojans put the Lady Wildcats away with a 17-12 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Okanawa Brown led Wilkinson County (3-11) with 10 points and Malesia Slack had nine points. The Lady Wildcats next play at the Dexter Invitational Dec. 26-29.
