Burglar needs more than nicotine patch to curb cigarette habit

NATCHEZ — A Natchez burglar apparently had a jones so bad it could only be fixed with approximately 5,700 cigarettes.

According to a report filed at the Natchez Police Department, the owner of the Daisy Street Grocery contacted the Natchez Police Department Thursday reporting that the business had been burglarized after discovering that an air-conditioning unit had been pushed in so the burglars could access the inside of the store.

Reported missing were between 20 and 30 cartons of Newport, Maverick, Berkley and Doral brand cigarettes, and 39 individual packs of Newport cigarettes — valued at $5.48 a pack — were also stolen.

The prices on the cartons of cigarettes range from approximately $34 to $51 per carton

The thieves also took several boxes of cigars valued at $18.53 a box and an unknown quantity of beer.

Natchez Police Department Investigator Jerry Ford said the NPD has a person of interest in the case.

“If anyone is approached by someone trying to sell them cigarettes or beer, they can notify the NPD or call it in to Crime Stoppers, and Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000 reward for information leading up to an arrest,” Ford said.

Crime Stoppers can be reached at 601-442-5000.

VERSHAL HOGAN; PULL YOUR BOSS IN A CORNER AND TELL HIM TO LIGHTING UP ON RUNNING THAT CRAP ON YOUR ARTICLES: “PLEASE-ANSWER-A-QUESTION-TO-CONTINUE” IT IS VERY UPSETTING TO US READERS WHEN WE GET READY TO READ AN ARTICLE AND THAT CRAP BLOCKS IT OUT. I’VE NEVER PLAYED THAT GAME, AND NEVER WILL. I TRY HARD TO POST MY COMMENTS BY THE SMALL AMOUNT THAT’S NOT BLOCKED. TELL HIM TO RUN THAT CRAP ON HIS SORRY ARTICLES.

I’ll give you that. Just click the first answer everytime. They’ll figure it out sooner or later that no one can be bothered with answering that crap everytime you try to read an article.

There are an average of 6-10 ads per page on the Demo site. I found that Adfender works great at blocking
every single one of them! It’s FREE, and pages load almost instantly without all the crap ads!
1 drawback though is having to go to Disqus main page to log in if you want to comment.

It’s what keeps the online version free. They have to make money to keep the website running. McComb has started charging for their online paper so either don’t read the ND online, or stop complaining. It’s not that big of a deal to answer a question or 2.

It may stop them from showing on the page, but the space is just blank. I have found a few on here that I’ve used and purchased the product. I wouldn’t even have known about it if I hadn’t seen it here.
Programs like Adfender that are free, may also come with Spyware and you’ll never know it. They may be logging every keystroke that you make. Very few things are actually “free”.

The ND is not the welfare office. As someone else has said, if you don’t want to see these things then go buy a hard copy of the ND.
