NEWELLTON, La. — Services for Dorothy Lee Lance, 91, of Newellton, La., who died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church of Newellton with the Bro. Joel Ford and Bro. James Tate officiating.

Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Lance was born March 3, 1921, in Fort Smith, Ark., the daughter of William Henry Robnett and Fannie Mae Hunter Robnett. She was a retired cafeteria manager at Davidson High School in St. Joseph, La., and an active member of First United Pentecostal Church of Newellton.

Mrs. Lance was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved singing, shopping and going to church. She cared more for others than herself. This great lady will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Lance was preceded in death by her husband, William Rufus Lance; her parents; three sisters, Opal Wilkerson, Betty Vail and Patsy Furstenburg; and one brother, Hershel Robnett.

Survivors include five daughters, Edith Finley and husband, Oscar, of Monterey, Rita Easterling and husband, Bobby, of Ferriday, Betty Slaughter and husband, Robert, and Cindy Tucker and husband, Ray, all of Newellton, and Debra Ford and husband, Paul David, of Jonesville; three sons, Darrell Lance Sr. and wife, Glynda, of St. Joseph, La., Donald Lance and wife, Rita, of Ferriday and Roy Lance Sr. and wife, Rhonda, of Newellton; one sister, Wilma Williams of Toledo, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brandt Lance, Dustin Lance, Jared Tucker, Joey Lance, Robbie Slaughter and Roy Glen Lance Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Lance, Darrell Lance Jr., Gary Frith Jr., Justin Ford, Perry Frith and Ricky Mathews.
