FERRIDAY — A local man died Saturday night when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree.

Fred W. McClung Jr., 61, of Ferriday, was driving on U.S. 84 near Louisiana 566 in Concordia Parish at approximately 8:15 p.m., a Louisiana State Police spokesman said.

McClung was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche when he reportedly drove off the right side of the roadway and collided with the tree.

He was wearing a seat belt.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
