NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police Department is investigating a stabbing that happened early Sunday morning on Main Street.

NPD Detective Jerry Ford said at approximately 4:20 a.m., two men got into an argument outside the Dimples nightclub.

The argument escalated into a physical altercation, and during the fight one of the men produced a knife and stabbed the other in the stomach.

The victim, David Lynn Bailey, was transported to Natchez Regional Medical Center, where he was in stable condition Sunday evening, Ford said.

The police are interviewing witnesses, and while they have a person of interest in the matter Ford declined to release the name of the possible suspect.

If an arrest is made, the suspect will likely be charged with aggravated assault, Ford said.

I agree this place has way too much crime for a town this small.. granted they are not supposed to keep serving them if they are way over the limit however everyone holds alcohol at different levels so sometimes it is hard to tell. Also some people can’t drink liquor but can beer and vice versa and some just can’t function very well on certain alcohols. it just tends to make them irritable but that is up to each individual to know what they can and can’t consume safely and without it causing them problems as well as others. If you can’t handle drinking within reason then you should probably not drink at all. However this whole thing could have started over something entirely non alcohol related who knows.

Poor guy, he messed up now by going to the hospital. According to the Natchez Police, if you’re attacked downtown and go to the hospital for treatment you gave up your rights to press charges cause you left the scene and they can’t be bothered with finding out who hurt you. Just ask the blonde super cop, he’ll tell you.
