HATTIESBURG — Austin Walker tallied two goals for Adams County Christian School as the Rebels topped Columbia Academy 6-1 Wednesday evening.

Dylan Galbreath, Hunter Lindsey, William Ladner and Lester Wells each added goals for ACCS. The Rebels defense, meanwhile, limited Columbia Academy to just nine shots on goal.

“These guys really stepped up and played as a whole team today,” ACCS head coach Jimmy Allgood said. “With the passing, trapping and speed on a dry field, it helped make soccer a little easier for our guys today.”

Walker scored the first goal just 1:30 into the game, and Galbreath added his goal in the fifth minute. Lindsey’s goal came in the 25th minute, and Walker got his second goal in the 38th minute. The Rebels led 4-1 at halftime.

“Once we got up 3-0, I wanted to reward some of my defenders like William Ladner, so he and Justin Allgood swapped,” Coach Allgood said.

And that paid off for Ladner, who scored his first goal of the season in the 50th minute on a penalty kick. Wells scored the Rebels’ final goal in the 59th minute.

The Rebels are 4-3 in district play, with two of those losses coming to Laurel Christian. Coach Allgood said his team was in a dogfight shooting for second place in district and for a playoff berth.

“If these guys will play with the intensity level they can now play with for a full soccer match, I think these guys have a good shot at going deep into the playoffs,” Coach Allgood said.

ACCS (13-3-1 overall) will play Saturday at Hillcrest Christian.
