PORT GIBSON — Lester Wells, Jordan Babb and Austin Walker each scored a goal for Adams County Christian School as the Rebels defeated Chamberlain-Hunt Academy 3-1 Saturday afternoon.

Wells scored the first goal of the match at the 12th minute to give ACCS the early lead. Babb’s goal came just 10 minutes later on a corner kick by Justin Allgood for a 2-0 Rebels lead.

“The guys came out very aggressive,” ACCS head coach Jim Allgood said. “We had some great passing, great working together for most of the contest.”

Chamberlain-Hunt scored its only goal of the match at the 31st minute and went into halftime trailing ACCS 2-1. Walker then put the match away with his goal on a penalty kick from nearly 50 yards away at the 59th minute. After that, it was up to the defense to keep CHA from getting back in the game and the Rebels did just that.

“Today’s opponent and next week’s opponent, River Oaks, are important matches for us to see how we do in the playoffs,” Allgood said. “We might see one of these two teams in the first round of the playoffs, depending on how the brackets fall out.”

ACCS had 27 shots on goal to just 13 for Chamberlain-Hunt. Rebels goalkeeper Zach Pintard ended up with 12 saves.

ACCS (16-4-1) hosts River Oaks next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
