NHS weightlifting: Bulldogs push to third place

HATTIESBURG — The Natchez High School powerlifting team finished third in the MHSAA Region 3-6A meet Saturday at Hattiesburg High School. Oak Grove High School finished in first place, Brandon High School in second place and Hattiesburg in fourth place.

The following lifters will move on to the South State tournament March 9:

-Jalen Blackwell, who finished in third place in the 114 weight class

-Ezekial Johnson, who finished in third place in the 132 weight class

-Ryan McDonald, who finished in third place in the 148 weight class

-Avery Jones, who finished in second place in the 181 weight class

-Timothy Collins, who finished third place in the 198 weight class

-Charles Bates, who finished in third place in the 220 weight class

-Jeffery Johnson, who finished in second place in the 275 weight class

-Jayvin Foster, who finished in second place in the 308 weight class

-Gerald Wiley, who finished third place in the Super Heavyweight weight class.

The NHS powerlifters are coached by Steve Davis and Ivan Evans.
