MEADVILLE — It was a tough day for the Cathedral Lady Green Wave in more ways than one Saturday at the Franklin County Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament.

In its first game of the day, Cathedral lost to the Lawrence County Lady Cougars 10-1 in three innings. And it was in the top of the third inning in which starting pitcher Mollie Devning was injured when she got hit on a comebacker to the ankle and she left the game with two outs in the top of the third inning.

Devening had allowed three runs on just two hits with one strikeout through two and two-thirds inning. After that, Lawrence County scored seven runs on six hits before Cathedral finally got out of that frame.

Game 2 ended in a 5-5 tie with the host Franklin County Lady Bulldogs.

The first inning was an exciting one as the Lady Green Wave scored two runs in the top of the inning and the Lady Bulldogs countered with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Both teams scored one run in the second inning to make it a 5-3 game in favor of Franklin County. However, the Lady Green Wave responded with one run in the top of the third inning and one in the top of the fourth. McKenzie Milligan went 2-for-2 for the Lady Green Wave.

Cathedral (2-1-1) hosts Vicksburg Tuesday.
