NATCHEZ — Friends and well-wishers gathered Friday evening at the Natchez bluff gazebo to pray for Blair Lee, who was injured in an early morning vehicle accident earlier in the day.

Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said the 17-year-old driver was ejected from her vehicle after she lost control of the 1999 Toyota 4runner she was driving on Kingston Road and struck a tree at approximately 1:26 a.m. Friday morning.

The teen sustained serious head and pelvis injuries and was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center, Mayfield said.

“We think speed may have been involved in the accident, but we have no evidence of any impairment; we don’t have any reason to believe the accident was alcohol-related,” he said.

After news of Lee’s accident spread Friday morning, friends at Adams County Christian School — where she attends — helped organize a prayer rally for her. At the rally Friday evening, those present expressed concern and prayed for Lee’s recovery.

The teen remained hospitalized Friday evening.
