JONESVILLE — Micahla Hughes helped Block overcome six errors by pitching a complete-game one-hitter with five strikeouts as the Lady Bears defeated the Harrisonburg Lady Bulldogs 7-1 Friday afternoon.

Hughes didn’t just frustrate Harrisonburg on the mound. She did so at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with both hits being doubles. Block scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning and two in the bottom of the third for a 5-0 lead.

Three of the Lady Bears’ errors came in the top of the fifth inning when the Lady Bulldogs scored their only run of the game, which was unearned. Block responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Nikki Harbor was 2-for-3 with a double.

Block (5-7) begins LHSAA District 4-1A play Monday when it hosts LaSalle.
