NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Carece Rushing Cox, 76, of the Springfield Community, who died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at her residence, were 11 a.m. Monday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Wagoner and the Rev. Glen Mullins officiating.

Burial followed at the Cox Family Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cox was born Sept. 11, 1936, at McCall Creek, the daughter of Willie Joe Rushing and Willie Juanita Burr Rushing. She was a charter member of Springfield Baptist and was an active member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church, where she taught the ladies Sunday School class. Mrs. Cox was a devoted wife and a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was an amazing devoted Christian and loved her family and friends. Mrs. Cox loved the Lord and loved serving him. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and helping others. Everyone who came in contact with her received a blessing.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter-in-law, C.C. Cox.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Joe Cox Jr., of Natchez; two sons, Ronnie C. Cox Sr. and Lonnie “Joey” Cox both of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Ronnie Cox Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Natchez, Clifton Craig Cox and wife, Tina, of Natchez, Randi E. Cox of Vidalia, Amber Huff Stallings of Waynesboro, Jessica Cox Evans and husband, Del, of Vidalia and Lee Cox of Pensacola; 12 great-grandchildren, Caleb C. Cox, Zachary A. Cox, Arrah Breanne Cox, Cade Cox, Drake K. Cox, Ethan Evans, Emily Evans, Zack Cox, Tony Cox, Skylar Cox, Jake Cox and Reid Finnegan; one brother, James Rushing and wife, Becky, of Brookhaven; and five sisters, Margie Cole and husband, Bill, Louise Buckles, Nancy Rushing, all of Natchez, Susie Boles and husband, Donnie, of Vidalia and Diane Rushing of Vicksburg .

Pallbearers were Caleb Cox, Zack Cox, Cade Cox, Bradley Martin, Shug Lambert and Kevin Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers were Jack McCall, Douglas McIlwain, Dave Upton and Ralph Cox.
