VIDALIA — After a rough game Monday night, the Vidalia High School Lady Vikings came back in a big way Tuesday against Delhi High School.

Coming off an 11-0 loss to Jena in which Katelin Temple had the team’s only hit, Vidalia swept the two-game set from Delhi Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Vikings steamrolled past the Lady Bears 16-0 in just three innings in Game 1 and they used a big first inning to take Game 2 by the score of 9-4.

In the first game, Laura Perilloux pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out four batters in three innings.

And she got plenty of run support.

Katelynn Bertelsen went 3-for-3 with a double, Perilloux helped her cause by going 2-for-2, and Megan Naquin was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Taylor Yates had a double and two RBIs.

Vidalia score six runs in the bottom of the first inning in Game 2 to take the early lead. Delhi scored one run in the top of the second before the Lady Vikings tacked on three runs in the bottom of the second.

Temple had another outstanding game at the plate. She went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and three RBIs. Gracyn Nelson was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs. Winning pitcher Cassie Gonzales allowed four runs on four hits with five strikeouts and one hit batter in five innings.
