Vidalia woman arrested on 65-drug related charges

VIDALIA — A Vidalia woman was arrested Tuesday on 65 drug-related charges as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation in three Louisiana parishes and Adams County.

Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Amy McCarthy said Stephanie J. Whittington, 31, 149 J.H. Hamilton Road, was charged with 17 counts of obtaining possession of a controlled substance by fraud and 48 counts of prescribing, distributing or dispensing a controlled substance.

McCarthy said Concordia Narcotics Task Force is conducting an investigation involving several people obtaining and dispensing controlled substances from pharmacies within Concordia, Catahoula, Ouachita parishes and Adams County.

More warrants are pending in Concordia Parish and Adams County, as well as future arrests of co-conspirators, McCarthy said.

The Drug Enforcement Administration has been contacted and may possibly adopt the case on a federal level, McCarthy said.

No bond has been set for Whittington.
